## The English you can speak, 28 Oct 2009

Koreans absolutely love squid. They're called "Oh Jing Er" in Korean. Squid is a popular side dish and there are many ways it can be prepared. It can be eaten steamed and dipped in vinegared red pepper paste. You can also enjoy it raw, fresh out of the ocean. It is also served as a sort of salad, mixed with a combination of greens, spicy sauce and vinegar. It's also used in a soup, which is known to be an effective home remedy for hangovers.Dried squid is also very popular. Dried squid is cut up and enjoyed in the same way that Westerners enjoy jerky with their beer. It really goes well with peanuts. Roasted half-dried squid flavored with butter is also a great snack enjoyed at movie theaters or concession stands. Squid is also the base for tons of chips you can find at the store.

# A squid is a sea creature with a long soft body and many soft arms called tentacles.
# A remedy is a successful way of dealing with a problem.
# If someone wakes up with a hangover, they feel sick and have a headache because they have drunk a lot of alcohol the night before.
# Jerky is meat that has been cut into strips, trimmed of fat, marinated in a spicy, or sweet liquid, and dried or smoked with low heat or is occasionally just salted and sun-dried.
# Concession stand is the term used to refer to a place where patrons can purchase snacks or food at a cinema, fair, stadium, or other entertainment venue.

## Actually, I like to eat squid, especially fresh one, raw squid. The best place where I eat raw squid is any place of many beach-side restaurants around the ocean. It was very fresh and delicious. So whenever I go to the ocean in order to see a wave, take a rest, and so on, I can enjoy seafood fresh out the ocean.
And dried squid with peanuts is the most common side dish you would order at a bar in Korea while drinking a cup of beer. It is so simple and no difficulty in digestion.

# Do you like to eat dried squid? Why or why not?
# Have you ever tried raw squid? What was it like?
# What kind of squid snacks have you tried?
# Do you know how to cook squid soup?
